What are the Biggest US Renaissance Festivals

The 2020 Texas Renaissance Festival

Something wrong?

The Texas Renaissance Festival began in 1974 on the site of an old strip mining site in Todd Mission. It is considered the largest amusement park of the Renaissance, attracting more than half a million guests annually.

This magical festival offers fascinating experiences on the weekends with a variety of performances on 25 stages, hand-operated rides, medieval dance and music, first-class drinks and food, work by artisans in around 400 local shops and of course the Queen's Royal Finale fireworks at dusk .

Throughout the festival site you will discover several artists who will present the audience with the methods of coinage, armor forging, candle making, glass blowing and other techniques.

One of the biggest festival events is the Joust. This precise reenactment of a medieval joust is performed by the Hanlon-Lees Action Theater. You will see armored knights, authentic weapons and costumed horses.

A royal finale will take place in the arena at the end of the festival with various performances by entertainers and musicians. Prepare your "eyes" for the fireworks graduation ceremony.

Organizers also offer a great campsite for tented campers, RVs, trailers, and coaches. The campsite's infrastructure has evolved over the years with electric lighting on main paths, bathroom facilities, water and landfill stations for RVs, and other perks. The price depends on the size of the vehicle or vehicle / trailer combination and ranges from $ 25 to $ 55 per vehicle / weekend. Online reservation offers a lower rate than the gate fee.
